• The
Royal Irish Regiment was created
in 1992 with the merger of The Royal
Irish Rangers and The Ulster Defence
Regiment.
• The band was formed a year later
and when uniquely combining with Bugles,
Pipes & Drums
they boasted the largest regimental
musical ensemble in the British Army
before sadly disbanding in October
2007.
• Faugh-A-Ballagh is an old Gaelic
battle cry meaning “Clear The
Way!” and
is the regimental motto of The Royal
Irish Regiment.
• The title track, a quick march,
is used to lead the Regimental Colours
on and off parade.
• This stirring collection of
music features the full ensemble and
ranges from a solo piper on At The
Dawning Of The Day to a moving and
emotional rendition of Danny Boy.
