As a singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer, Wes played bass in a trio called JoshoMisho and with the New Bohemians as rhythm guitarist, providing mostly sheets and backdrops of sound for the bands more percussive tones. He was exposed to hundreds of films by visionary filmmakers whose images and accompanying soundtracks became the basis and filter for how Wes would perceive music: as a visual medium. In his own words Wes Martin describes 3 Pound Universe “as a door that I have finally closed on a mostly painful part that leaves me standing outside in a world in which with a newly found independence I must navigate alone.”
